Constructing the Emission-line Galaxy–Host Halo Connection through Auto and Cross Correlations

We investigate the [O\,II] emission line galaxy (ELG)-host halo connection via auto and cross correlations, propose a concise effective method to populate ELGs in dark matter halos without assuming parameterized occupation distribution (HOD) model. Using observational data from VIMOS Public Extragalactic Redshift Survey (VIPERS), we measure correlation functions between selected by luminosity normal galaxies stellar mass. Combining stellar-halo mass relation (SHMR) derived for fraction of observed population, demonstrate that can establish an accurate ELG-halo connection. With connection, accurately reproduce both real-space redshift-space, once satellite is properly reduced. Our provides novel strategy generate ELG mock catalogs ongoing upcoming redshift surveys. also provide simple description HOD ELGs.
